- Before the C.V Joint can be replaced – the complete drive shaft must be removed from the vehicle.
- Remove the Rubber Boot from the CV Joint.
- To remove CV joint from the drive shaft, hold the drive shaft vertically and tap the outer edge of the CV joint with a 'Hide Hammer' to drive the joint from the shaft.
Fit the replacement CV joint onto the shaft with the joint pressing against the snap ring – centralise the snap ring into the groove in the shaft so that the inner race of the CV joint will slide over it.
It may be necessary to tap the outside edge of the joint with a 'Hide Hammer' in order to close the snap ring completely – tap the joint until it is completely home (i.e. with the inner race against the large retaining clip.)
Examine rubber boot for wear and tear. Any damage could result in premature joint failure.
Fit the rubber boot and clips – the complete drive shaft can now be fitted to the vehicle.
