Pearson's Problem Parts
This section is here to help keep you the punters informed on a regular basis on the availability of problem parts, reasons for withdrawing certain parts, or simply short term unavailability's...I know it can be really irritating if the part you desire is not immediately available, so from now on we will be up-dating this information on a regular basis (at least once a week). As soon as we know then so will you! Should save a few of those 'why, what, when' calls. If it's out of our control then we'll try and let you know what's happening to move things forward. Part number/description CVKIT1Temporary interruption in supply, see link below; http://www.canleyclassics.com/products.asp?article=cvkit1.xml WKC2543 & 914698 1500 Spit/GT6III Front & rear bumpersThese old chestnuts again. Same story as last time, we produce a new batch (usually at least 50-100 of each) and the trade vacuum's them all from us in a matter of a month or two. Why not make more I hear you say? Two things, can you imagine how much space a few hundred bumpers take up? No? It's a lot! The other is can you imagine how much it costs to make these things in these numbers? No? Think a decent flashy new motors worth! The next production run could easily be a month or two away yet so try your local specialist for any stock left over from the last lot, we haven't got any! Feb 08 Up-date WKC2543 are now in stock and selling fast (again!). GBS123 (GBS710) Herald front drum shoesWe haven't had stock for months. I have been ringing around the trade trying to find some since late summer last year, no joy. It seems no-one is prepared to make them in the short term because of the low volume turn over. I'll keep trying, don't hold your breath, and if you have any old stock new ones bung them on e-bay they are very rare at the moment! 10.12.07 We can usually find the odd set for retail customers, but no large amounts available too the trade as yet. 125481 & 125482 Anti Roll Bar LinksIf you have recently bought a pair of these place them back to back and see if they are a mirror image of each other. We haven't been able to get good left hand ones from anywhere for some time. Some are worse than others (we intercepted those before any were sold) and wouldn't last long in service due to the distortion in the rubber once fitted. It seems that there are thousands of dodgy ones out there at the moment and they WILL be sold (not by us) before any new correct ones are made, beware! 18.08.07 Up-date we have sourced some decent ones which was difficult because the majority of the links out there at the moment are wrong, be aware! 913937 Dolomite rear screen seal Supplier/manufacturer has no stock, and no immediate plans to make another batch due to low demand for the last production run. 30.01.08 Up-date. The manufacturer has told me that they are in the process of making a new batch, but the specialist who commissioned it has yet to confirm to the rest of the trade that that is the case! 213411 Herald six screw fixing petrol tank senderNo stock since last summer. Problem - incorrect manufacture, and doesn't read full scale. Supplier/manufacturer is aware of problem and is sorting, but no immediate due dates. Same advice holds for stocks held elsewhere as above! 29.01.08 Up-date. We have a new batch on order from a different manufacturer, should be here in a few weeks. 21.4.08 That 'new' batch came in and we rejected the lot! Don't hold your breath on this one it seems like the first faulty batch have been off loaded into the trade and are now doing the rounds! 913766 GT6 MKIII bonnet assemblyNot been available from source and we have sold all of our stock. Manufacturer has no immediate plans to produce another batch in the short term. Other suppliers may have stock, but with confidence there is only one manufacturer. 15.03.08 Heritage made a short run of bonnets, our allocation came into stock, and promptly sold out again so we are back where we started! UKC7274 Number plate light late Spitfire 1500These have been a problem for over a year now, the manufacturer is sorting but no firm due dates. 29.01.08 Up-date. Nothing to report, seems like it might no get done at all? 19.05.08 General Up-dateThe inevitable march of progress means that by far the largest proportion of our business comes via the internet. The old face to face sale over the counter seems to be the biggest loser. Hardly surprising if you take into account the price of fuel, and the busy lives we all seem to be leading these days. It's usually more convenient to sit at home and press a few keys on the putor, and cheaper if you don't jump in the car and use half a tank of fuel to come to us and buy your widget. As such our daily lives here are ruled by the comings and goings of the couriers. When the last carrier, and or Royal Mail has collected from us at 5 in the afternoon things become a little more relaxed here! I suppose this begs the question as to whether it's worth keeping open our retail counter. For our local customers it's an obvious yes, but by and large overall it's probably no. We shall monitor the situation but I don't see the need for the counter growing by any margin, we aren't exactly well placed to pick up any new passing trade! What's most surprising is that trade overall (from all sources) remains static in what most of us (in the trade) had predicted would be a shrinking market. Our turnover seems to grind out the same (in real terms) year on year. Indeed in attempt to try and cap the volume of sales/customers we virtually stopped advertising/promotion a few years back. The alternative was to further grow our infrastructure, and staffing levels. We thought about this for about half a second and took the first option! |
