Courier quality
Thursday, December 14, 2006

No not that sort of Courier as in Triumph, but those nice people who bring stuff to your doorstep. Being in the front line so to speak of the courier/customer interface brings us some insight into the quality of the courier industry. With the advent of tracking, and GPS location the service offered today by your average courier company (we mostly use ANC and very good they are to) is streets ahead of what it was a few years ago. I remember the good old, bad old days starting off with the John Kipping era. John was early in to the whole classic spares mail order thing back when your average punter never considered having anything delivered by mail God forbid, he would have much rather jumped into his Vitesse and driven 200 miles to JK's door to buy his 25p widget! Back in those days the whole courier system was in it's infancy and not 100% reliable, I remember JK changing his allegiances more than a few times in an attempt to improve service. That was very much as we found it on taking the business over at the end of the last millenium. In those early days we also swapped and changed a few times until we settled with ANC, although it's probably true to say that there are no bad courier companies left in business today, unless you know differently?

I would agree Dave. ANC seem to have the balance right.
Citylink I would like mention as being truly terrible.
But nothing can compare to Parcel Farce, I arranged to pick up a bonnet from a chap on ebay. PF missed two collections I had arranged - the guy had had two mornings off work! When they eventually got it, they broke the fibreglass in transit! Arrgh!

Dont think much of ANC, sorry, the last package I had delivered from them made its last part of the journey by the post man as they could not find my address and had not contacted me to check it.
I suppose you get good and bad in each area though
